Here’s how “Documents For The Reader” begins:
Note:
Your experience having serious conversations
with people about life’s difficulties
will be far more useful than
any Tarot experience.

Now here’s a condensed explanation
of the book’s entire method:
Try this first. ..
>> Sit beside the client at a table.
.. Turn all the cards face up and briefly glance at them in
.. .. a quite informal way.
.. Explain that the pictures all speak of human life: .. Tarot
.. .. was developed by many people over many years, as a
.. .. tool to help us sort out our confusions.
>> Asking the client to help, turn the cards face down and
.. .. mix them up.
.. .. Still face down, spread them out neatly to left and right.
>> Prompt the client to focus on their issue:
.. .. Ask them to bring to mind an aspect of their life that is
.. .. .. now important.
.. .. Say it must be something where they need some helpful
.. .. .. advice, .. or a hint of how to see things, .. or information
.. .. .. about the past, .. or maybe they need a message.
.. .. EMPHASIZE: .. It doesn’t need to be “earth-shaking”. .. But
.. .. .. it does need to be something where they genuinely need
.. .. .. some impartial wisdom.
.. .. EMPHASIZE: .. Ask them to get this very clear and vivid in
.. .. .. their mind, and give them time to do so.
>> Suggest they can close their eyes.
.. .. At this time it’s often helpful, .. (but NOT necessary!) .. for
.. .. .. Client to speak their issue out loud. .. Speaking is some-
.. .. .. -times a bad thing, as it might distract from visualizing,
.. .. .. which is of is of the greatest importance.
>> Approach the rest as an Empowered Conversation.
.. .. You might draw the cards yourself, and/or ask Client to.
.. .. Draw 1 or 2 cards at a time, and stop to discuss them with
.. .. .. Client, asking Client to look at the cards, asking how the
.. .. .. cards might relate to their issue. .. Reply with what you
.. .. .. intuit about these cards.
.. .. Don’t be afraid to offer your own wisdom, if you have any.
.. .. Then verbally sum up what you have so far, .. Formulate a
.. .. .. specific question out loud, .. Ask Client to visualize that,
.. .. .. and you visualize it yourself.
.. .. Then draw 1 or 2 more cards.
>> Repeat as needed, seeking resolution of Client’s issue.
.. .. At any point, you may ask Client to verbalize or reexamine
.. .. their issue.
>> When to stop? .. Things to keep in mind:
.. .. You might specify an ending time before you start.
.. .. Stop if either of you gets tired.
.. .. Stop when confusion sets in.
.. .. 20 minutes is usually, but not always, sufficient, .. 50
.. .. .. minutes is definitely a practical maximum.
.. .. When you think you’ve made a lot of progress, it’s okay
.. .. .. to ask Client if they’re satisfied.
>> When you stop:
.. .. With sincere respect, close the deck & THANK IT.
That’s a condensed explanation
of the book’s entire method.
